What kind of media institution might distribute your product and why?

I think that if my media product had been made to be turned into a feature length film then i would want the distributor to be someone like 20th Century fox, this is because 20th century fox are a massive distribution company, anyone who sees the 20th century fox logo knows that the film they are going to see has been well made, but also because 20th century fox make a lot of great action thrillers which is the same genre as my media product. 20th century fox do a great job distributing films all of the UK and i could not think of a better company to distribute my film. My media product would look appealing to a massive company like 20th century because my film is a typical action thriller, it has guns, chases and violence which are the basics of an action thriller and the genre of an action thriller does so well in the cinema because this allows the viewer to escape from there everyday world into something a little more exciting.
So i think i massive, well known, big budgeted company like 20th century fox would be the best choice for distributing my film.

Also 20th Centuary fox has produced other action thriller films such as "Taken" and "Hitman" these are both action thriller films and they have the same features which my film has, they have guns, violence, chases. Taken and the Hitman both raise the viewer out of their seat by creating tension for the viewer. I think 20th Centuary fox would produce my film because they are well known for producing action thrillers.

 20th Centuary fox being owned by News Corporation aswell offers a massive window into being able to promote the film in many ways aswell. News Corporation ownes The Sun, this is perfect for ensuring the film is a massive success because the Sun can promote the flim in their newspaper and offer competitions for free tickets. By doing this it will drag the target audience into watching the film. Another reason why having 20th Centaury fox as a producer is a good idea.
With our regulations for our film after we have made the film i have decided that our filim will be a 15, this is because i beleive that in our film we will not have sexual nature scenese in our film which would bring our film to a 15 because this does not meet the crtieria that meets a 18, also in our film there will be no strong violence, e.g. heads being blown off by guns and bombs but there will be fist fights and blood which takes our film out of the 12 category but again this will not be strong enough to take our film into the 18 category so i think if our film was going to be made in real life then this would be a 15.

What elements of your text would attract your target audience?

The elements of our product that will attract our target audience would be;
  • The fast paced cuts, such as the chase scene. Such as in the chase scenes there are fast paced cutting which keeps the viewer off the edge of there seat meaning they will be involved in the film and feel the suspense that the sequence is trying to make them feel, again which the target audience loves.
  • The involvement of guns in our text with characters dressed up in balaclavas in camouflage gear. This gives the characters a scary look which means they are able to intimidate the target audience which means the target audience will feel towards the other characters and not want to be in there position because of this intimidating feeling they get off these other characters.
  • The fact that there is violence in our opening sequence, such as when the character stands on the other character with his shoe, our target audience love things like this involving violence because this gives them a buzz and makes them more involved in the film.

Here are some snapshots from our film which show that these elements of our text will attract our target audience and what they like;

As you can see we have put into our film many aspects that our target market
will like, by having these aspects in our film it means that our target audience
will want to see our film because our film includes aspects which they
decide on when watching a film. This is key to our target audience in order in
picking a film.

Looking back on your pre-liminary task, What do you feel you have learnt in progression from it to the final product?

I have learnt a lot from the pre-liminary task to the final product, such as;

 I have learnt that a pan is never a good option to use when filming a sequence. such as in my preliminary task i have a pan to kick off the sequence but in my final product i never use a pan, this is because i have learnt that a pan is only as good as a still shot and a still shot is easier to use with the equipment we have.
I have learnt that match-on-actions are fabulous and make the sequence flow together so well that it is un-noticable to the viewer and they feel escaped from there seats.  such as in the preliminary task there is a match-on-action of the door being opened which i thought was amazing but in the final film there is a sequence of the character running up a tree with the branch braking then the character stumbles, this was out of the blue when we filmed this but we decided to improvise and so we used this as a match on action for our film.

I have also learnt that not too rely on people so much because in our preliminary task our friend Sam was with the school when we filmed this but shortly after that we got the news that he would be moving schools and so for our final film we did not have him as a actor for this so we learnt not to rely on people as much as possible.

Here we can see that we have improved because this is parrallel action happening here. In our first preliminary task we did not have this happening aswell as we have in our final film, this shows the improvement we have made and i think this parrallel action is a very good technique.

What have you learnt about the technologies from the process of making this product?

There are a lot of things i have learnt about making my film introduction and i have decided to write down 3 of my highest achievements;
For me i have hugely educated myself in the special effects department, when making this film i decided i wanted a title like no other, so i realised the school had a special effects editing software which i could use to make my title, this is what i used to make our title. This is a key skill i now know for the future.

              I have also learnt that in order to make a 2 minutes opening sequence that you spend more time editing the film then you do filming this, when i watch films now i really do appreciate how they are made and the time and effort that has gone into making that little sequence.

              I have also learnt that never to use pans, this is because pans are really hard to maintain the panning speed so the pan looks smooth but i think with the tripods i was using that this seems impossible because there is too much noise. It is much easier to film with a still shot because you can leave the camera be
and film looks more professional because there are no stutters with the camera.

Who would be the audience for your media product?

I think the audience for our media product would be a student in there early 20's who likes to go to parties and drink but also likes hanging out with friends and all watching a film together, they would also be male because men stereotypically like to watch action thrillers where there are a lot of chase scenes and explosions, there nationality would be English and/or American because as the Americans own most cinemas in the UK they would want to show there film to there country if the film is a big success in the UK but also the language of the film is English so i think someone from China would find it hard to understand the film without sub-titles. This would be our typical audience member for our media product. The reason is is because students and the 20's age category like to spend their money on things for themselves, they are not really adults in a sense of that they could still live at home and this would not be looked down on them so much so this gives them a chance to spend money on what ever they wont so if they see our film on the television looking amazing then they would want to get there friends together and watch the film. I think in order to attract our audience our adverts will have to be fast paced  and make everything over exaggerated with explosions and car chases but not too cheesy.

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge the conventions of real media products?

We also use the conventions of a real media product because in other action thriller films there are chase scenes, guns, violence, mysterious things laying about, mysterious people, tension and bad guys. These are all the things you would expect to see in a actiom thriller film and these are the things that are in our film. so i think we have used the conventions to portray and action thriller film and made this our own.

The things we expect to see in a action thriller film are;
  • Chase scenes.
  • Violence.
  • Mystery.
  • Supspensing music
  • Scary looking characters.
  • Hero's and villins
  • Red herrings
Our film matches these key factors of a action thriller by;

Chase scenes

In a action thriller you expect to see chase scenes between characters, the audience wants the supspense of who is going to get away or what is going to happen, what genius ways will the hero or villan escape the chasem, will anyone die. These are the things that goes through the minds of a person when they watch a good chase scene, our film does this because the main character is found looking at the area 51 package when the bad people find this, they shout "hey". The main character runs away and then the film breaks into a chase scene, the character jumps over trees and branches and even one branch breaks.

Our twist to the action thriller film is that the Sam character is all by himself, usually in action thriller films there are other people around who help the character but this Sam character is all by himself with no - one to help, plus you do not see his parents so you do not know if he has any or not to help him.

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

The social groups in our media product are teenagers (the streotypical teenager; Hoody and tracksuit bottoms) and adults (particuarly in there 30's). The type of character the teenager is is a sporty but lazy character which contridicts itself. The character wears a blue hoody with grey tracksuit bottoms and a pair of trainers, these are stereotypical clothes related to that age category which means that we have a sterotypical teenager in our film, the one which old ladies tend to be scared of. We also have an adult in our film (boss character) now adults are generally sensible and mature compred with these youngesters of today but not in our film. In our film our adult character is caryying a shotgun wearing army clothes, a balaclava and some sun glasses.

now in our film i think we are representing the youth in a good way and also in a bad way. A good way because there are scarier characters in the film so the viewer warms to the teenager more rather then  the adult character but we also show him in a bad way because the viewer might ask why the teenager gets himself into that trouble in the first place just because he was a bit nosey. But overall i think we have represented the youth in a good way in our film.
In our film i think we have represented the adults in a bad way because the adult stands on the teenager so i dont think people will like that character for starters, the character also carries round a gun and wears army uniform with a balaclava so this is scary to the viewer so they will not like them that much. So we have represented the adults in a bad way.
