Costumes used in the opening sequence.

In the opening sequence costume is a big part because without costume you could not tell as easy as you can that the 2 army soldiers are in the army and that they are also quite dangerous. The costume can have a massive affect on the viewer without the character actually decding to talk. Here are the costumes used in our opening sequence;

Boss = balaclava, aviators. camo jacket, camo trousers and combat  boots.

The balaclava covers most of the characters face, this adds to the sense of hidden and mystery because you do not know what they character looks like or any remarkable features on the face. The balalva is perfect for this character because we do not want to give away this characters identity.

The trousers match with the combat jacket this is so this makes the uniform look to the character, this is done to show the viewer that this person is the buisness and this character is some type of official character. This adds to the sense of being scared by this person because they are official.

 These are Aviators, these are worn by the boss with the balaclava, this is done to further hide this characters face because we did not want to viewer to see this character and what he looks like at all, also these glasses look cool and hip which shows that this character is cool and hip.

This is a combat jacket in woodland camo, this shows the viewer that this character is in the army of some sort or has been, this is perfect with the surroundings because as the film is set in the woods then this character blends into the surroundings, further showing mystery and stealth.

This is the shoes worn by this character this is done because the boots look official and also go with the jact and the trousers because these are what are worn by anyone in the forces and add the sense of being scary and also with make the character seem taller and more fearful.

Now moving onto the sam character, this is a intresting point that we have made in the film, the costume Sam is wearing is ; Blue hoody, tracksuit bottoms and trainers. These are clothes which go stereotypically with this age group but the intresting point is that these clothes will be intimidating to any normal person if you saw a teenager wearing these clothes in the street then you would feel intimidating towards this character but because there are other characters wearing camo and typical soldiers uniforms then you warm to the Sam character rather then the soldiers in the camoflague. This is the intresting point.

Sam

                                                                   This is the blue hoody which sam is wearing, the colour blue can symbolise coldness but also the feeling of help, the coldness can represent the feeling of getting in trouble and be quite cold to other characters, but the feeling of help comes out when Sam gets stood on. The hoody also means that sam is quite a lazy character and likes to wear comforatable clothes.

The trousers that Sam is wearing are grey tracksuit bottoms, the reason we have decided to chose tracksuit bottoms are because we want to further show the viewer that Sam is a lazy person and likes to wear comforatable clothes but also sporty which is good for the chase scene because Sam is a sporty character you would think that he is able to run away which he does but then trips over in the last minute so you empithise for Sam.

Overall i have realised that costume can make the audience feel certain things by the clothes they wear, this means that the audience have certain emotional bonds to the characters because what they are wearing. This is key to having good Mise-en-scene because this makes a good film.
